The acne products aisle in any drugstore is usually crammed with teens that are looking to rid themselves of the pimples that are a part of growing up. They see a commercial and then run out to get the next great solution to their acne problems. They should be more concerned about the ingredients than the label.

Why we say this is because the ingredients are more important than anything else. A label may be proven to work, but that particular mix may not work for a specific person. It does not mean that they are lying, it just means that your body may not react to it in the manner that it does for other people.

Something that you are going to see in a lot of acne products is Salicylic Acid. The ingredient works by opening up the pores of your skin so that they do not get clogged up with oils or dead skin. The product that you use should not have a solution that is more than 2% of this particular ingredient.

Acetone or alcohols are other ingredients that are usually found in cleaning products for acne. When dirt gets into the pores, both of these work to get it out and open them back up so that a pimple does not develop. If they are in your facial cleaner, you may get a stinging sensation when you are using them.

Two things that are generally used in combination are resorcinol and sulfur. They will strip away the dead skin on your face so that it does not build up and clog your pores. This is another ingredient that can sting a little, so do not be concerned if you experience this.

Benzoyl Peroxide is something that many medicines tout and use in their commercials to draw in consumers. There is very good reason for this, because it works. It is usually found at a strength of less than 10%, but the upper end of that scale will cause redness and peeling for some time after you use the product and should only be used at that strength for severe cases.
